Whistable Shabby Chic

Somewhere between NY, the Normandy storage, and London, Rio's old toddler bed lost several of its pieces. Regardless, it was about time to find a bed that would keep up with Rio's growth spurts. We've tried several online retailers, but for whatever reason, every single bed I'd order would be out of stock (yes, I do have a very common taste). Finally, ebay UK came to the rescue. I've found two matching vintage beds. They were even featured in the BBC Homes & Antiques Aug 2006 issue on vintage family living. Ila can't wait to grow up so she can move into the second one. It's waiting for her in our attic.

Here are the beds in their former home in Whistable Kent. Unfortunately I didn't get to pick them up in person - heard via NYT that it's a good place to visit.

And here's Rio's reaction to her brand new room (I redecorated it while she was in school and changed the entire room around).

Snow in London

Still surrounded by pristine snow. The sun is out. School has been cancelled. It doesn't get better than that. But I have a feeling tomorrow it will all seem like a dream, as snow is rapidly melting and we'll be back in the slushy season.

We've met few friends at the local playground for a good old fashioned snowfight. Hudson and Rio tried their best to outdo the snowball champion Delanie. She has quite an aim.

Snow Day!

We were awakened from our winter hibernation by the Russian snow front. We're expecting about 15 cm of snow. I know it's peanuts compared to what Washington, New York and the Black Forrest are getting this year, but we're still excited. Plus, school has been cancelled!

Now, where are the mittens?
